I ate it with salsa ( Product Review: Santa Barbara mango peach salsa) and hummus (not from Costco but easily could have been). ![]() Although I knew that cucumber was a component of tzatziki, I did not expect actual pieces of the vegetable! These bites were some of my favorites.īecause tzatziki is more of a snack than a meal, I created a “sampler” plate for a meal by adding two other dips to the plate. I was also pleasantly surprised to find large chunks of crunchy cucumber in the dip. Although thick and creamy, it does not taste overly rich (even after eating a lot of it–which I did…three out of four nights in a row!) The Greek yogurt adds a tangy, slightly sour taste to which the dill provides a good contrast without being overpowering. I am so glad I tried it…it is gone and I already want more! Stir in the cilantro, honey, lemon, and vinegar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring so the salsa doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Serve pork chops topped with salsa, or serve salsa on the side. After you have peeled the peaches and tomatoes and chopped them, combine the chopped tomatoes, peaches, peppers, and onion in a large sauce pan. However, with an upcoming trip to Cape Cod with family (who also wanted to try it!), I decided to give it a try, figuring that it would be a good element of a summer meal that did not require preparation or cooking. Although I frequently eat hummus, I have not had tzatziki in many, many years, despite liking it when I have had it. I have always enjoyed Middle Eastern and Greek food (I know there are differences in many items across these cuisines but I associate Tzatziki with both). Recently, I decided that I really wanted Tzatziki. Allow the salsa to cool, then place in resealable containers for freezing. Toss gently.Every once in a while I get a particular food stuck in my head and decide that I really want to either try it or buy it again after a long time without it. Once it comes to a boil, immediately lower the heat, and leave your salsa to simmer for at least 45 mins.
